Emergency Planning

Emergency planning is the process by which risks are identified and planning is put in place to prevent emergencies occurring where possible, or to reduce, control and mitigate the effects should it happen

St Helens Borough Council has a duty under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 to ensure the county is prepared to respond to an emergency. The Emergency Management Plan is the main plan that outlines how the council will collectively respond to and manage an event, which either has the potential, or threatens council services, life, property or the environment and requires St Helens Borough Council to respond in a way that cannot be provided within normal day-to-day arrangements.
