Demolition work to make way for St Helens town centres' multi-million-pound transformation will begin in March, kick-starting a year of highly visible change and renewal, St Helens Borough Council has confirmed.

As part of a commitment to adult social care, St Helens Borough Council is trialling a range of new smart assistive technology to help support residents to live independently in their own homes for longer.

The vision to restore and revitalise Earlestown town centre has taken another big step forward with the appointment of HH Smith & Sons to undertake a series of internal enabling works on the iconic 125-year-old, Grade II Listed Earlestown Town Hall.

Rainhill will see improved healthcare facilities through a purchase of the former Rainhill Library site by Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust so that it can expand its current estate at the adjoining Rainhill Clinic on View Road in the centre of Rainhill Village.

The first tranche of St Helens Borough Council sites that are open to bids for Community Asset Transfer have been unveiled.

A new fund that will support residents and community groups to provide library facilities in their area has been launched and will be available from April 2025.

Key pedestrian and cycling routes in the borough are benefitting from improved street lighting, increasing safety and accessibility.
