Plans to return Earlestown's historic town hall to working life as a community hub have been brought forward into the first phase of the town centre regeneration project following the award of £20m from the government's Levelling Up Fund (LUF).

With £1.64m set aside for pothole repairs and £7.44m for planned carriageway resurfacing.

More than £2.3 million will be invested in supporting children the council cares for to stay in the borough.

Residents and community groups are encouraged to take part in a public consultation to help shape ambitious plans for the council's Library Service over the next five-years.

The move comes in response to challenges in adult social care across the country and will help to strengthen the sector locally.

Freedom of the Borough status has been given to four figures who are proud to represent and help put St Helens Borough on the map.
