Adoption
Adoption is a way of providing the security, love and permanence of a new family for children who can no longer by cared for by their birth families.
Together for Adoption is a regional agency that integrates five local authorities - Cheshire West and Chester, Halton, St Helens, Warrington and Wigan. Our work involves:
- Finding families for children who need to be placed for adoption
- Supporting children and families before, during and after adoption
- Recruiting and assessing adults to be adopters for our children.
- Support for adopted adults and birth parents
Together for Adoption has just one aim: to find the best adoptive parents and families for the children currently in our care.
Can I adopt?
There are many misconceptions about who can and who cannot adopt. We do not exclude anyone from consideration on the grounds of sexual orientation, race, marital status, gender, disability or employment status.
Our aim is to find loving homes for children where they can become part of caring families and have the best opportunities in life. People who adopt can be:
- Single, married, in a relationship, previously married
- Already have children, have adopted previously, no children
- Any sexuality
- 21 and above. There is no upper age limit
- Employed or on benefits
Any ethnic or religious background
