General Election results declared in St Helens Borough
On Thursday 4 July voters in St Helens Borough went to the polls for the 2024 General Election, and a by-election in Windle Ward.
Ballot papers were returned to the count venue at Sutton Leisure Centre to be verified and counted following the closing of the polls at 10pm.
In the St Helens North constituency, the number of verified votes cast was 40,629 and the turnout was 53.8%.
The results are as follows:
- Baines, David Edward (Labour Party) - 21,284
- Greenhalgh, Joe (English Constitution Party, Independence for England) - 274
- Maloney, Pat (Liberal Democrats) - 1,799
- Rear, Jayne Louise (The Conservative Party Candidate) - 4,507
- Thomas, Daniel (Green Party) - 3,495
- Webster, Malcolm James (Reform UK) - 9,115
In the St Helens South and Whiston Constituency, the number of verified votes cast was 38,120 and the turnout was 53.3%.
The results are as follows:
- Ellison, Emma Victoria (The Conservative Party Candidate) - 3,057
- Peters, Raymond Michael (Reform UK) - 6,974
- Price, Stephen Terence (Green Party) - 2,642
- Rimmer, Marie Elizabeth (Labour Party) - 18,919
- Spencer, Brian Thomas (Liberal Democrats) - 2,199
- Tasker, James Stephen (Independent) - 4,244
In the Windle Ward by-election, the number of verified votes cast was 4,797 and the turnout was 56.2%.
The results are as follows:
- Cass, Phil (Liberal Democrats) - 451
- Donnelly, Andrew William (Green Party) - 1,012
- Gibney, Denise Anne (The Conservative Party Candidate) - 725
- Preston, Lisa (Labour Party) - 2,506
