Next week Cabinet will review the Housing with Care Strategy that aims to provide people with the choice of a range of housing options that can keep people connected to their local community and meet their needs, and in turn support better wellbeing for them and their families.

There are 12 objectives as part of the strategy that help to focus on supporting people to stay connected to their communities, live more independently and focus on people's wellbeing through preventative support using things like technology so that more people can remain in their homes, which we know many in need of support and their families would prefer.

The report said: "As a responsible authority we are accountable for shaping the adult social care market, the Housing with Care Strategy helps to assess the needs of people in our community and sets out the plan to meet these needs in the future, using resources effectively to meet demographic changes and increased need, co-producing services that are designed to increase wellbeing and address health inequalities."

The strategy will also focus on the help to make sure high-quality housing that meets the future needs of our population will be met and links together adult social care and housing teams to make sure that future work goes hand in hand to support residents who may need additional support in the future and gives a wide range of options for those who need it.

In turn this work will also lead to greater support for care providers and housing agencies so that together the whole community across the borough can benefit from the right support at the right time.

Councillors will decide on whether to adopt the strategy at its Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, 19th December at 4pm.
