The retirement of our Chief Executive Kath O'Dwyer, creates a once-in-a-career opportunity to lead an outstanding local authority. It is an exciting time to join the council in its most senior role, as we stand on the precipice of delivering an ambitious regeneration programme for our borough, that will grow the local economy, provide jobs and opportunities for residents, and raise aspirations for our young people.

As Chief Executive and Head of Paid Service you will provide strong, collaborative, visible, strategic leadership to ensure the delivery of this once in a lifetime regeneration, as well as being passionate about delivering good quality services across both People and Place, which create the conditions for our residents to thrive. You will also be responsible for the efficient and effective running of the organisation as a whole.

You will be an ambassador for the council and St Helens Borough at a local, regional and national level, and a key influencer who is able to shape and deliver outcomes that will benefit St Helens and the wider Liverpool City Region. As a key partner within the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, you will support and drive our strategic policy direction alongside the Council Leader.

You'll be leading a dedicated workforce, driving innovation, championing equality and inclusion and developing strong working relationships with a range of partners and stakeholders.

Your role will be to provide strategic direction, support and challenge, so this is no place for a wall flower! In turn as Chief Executive you will be able to call on the support of our highly talented Executive and Senior Leadership Teams, who embed our values and behaviours and create a culture where our staff feel inspired and empowered to lead positive change and where continuous improvement is at the forefront of people's minds.
