Simpler Recycling
New recycling regulations will soon require your business to separate recyclable materials from your general waste.
Introduced in 2023 by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra), Simpler Recycling was brought in to help make bin day easier, by ending the confusion of what can and can't be recycled. So, what does this mean for your business?
By 31st March 2025, all businesses, and relevant non-domestic premises (such as schools and hospitals) with 10 or more full-time equivalent employees must separate paper, card, plastic, metal, aluminium, glass bottles and food waste from general waste. This relates to the total number of full time equivalent employees in a business, rather than in a certain business location. For example, if a business has 3 locations with 5 full time employees in each location, they have a total of 15 full time employees.
Businesses and other non-household premises with 9 or less full-time equivalent employees have until 31st March 2027
