Council Leader's good luck message to St Helens 10k participants, which roads are closed and where to park
St Helens Borough Council Leader, Anthony Burns, has passed on a good luck message to everyone taking part in this Sunday's GPW St Helens 10k, with special praise also going to the event organisers for making it happen.

Article date: 26 February 2025
Founded by the late, great Steve Prescott in 2011 as part of his fundraising efforts while battling a rare form of abdominal cancer, Pseudomyxoma Peritonei - the St Helens 10k has become a popular annual legacy event in memory of Steve, drawing in thousands of participants each year to take on the challenging course which starts and finishes at St Helens R.F.C.'s Totally Wicked Stadium, taking in the Green Flag award-winning Victoria Park and the gruelling North Road along the way.
Councillor Anthony Burns said: "The St Helens 10k is a fantastic event for the borough that aligns with our priorities as a council to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle, and one that I have enjoyed taking part in many times before. its inclusivity has seen some truly amazing people take part over the years to overcome adversity, from the legendary Steve Prescott to the inspirational Andy Reid MBE.
"Whether it's your fourteenth time doing it or your first, on behalf of St Helens Borough Council, I'd like to wish you all the very best of luck but most of all, enjoy it. And to the event organisers and volunteers, a big thank you for your commitment to ensure the St Helens 10k is the success that it is in memory of such a great man."
