St Helens Borough Council Arts Service and partners including Artist-Led St Helens, The Growth Company and Kindred are working together to improve opportunities and resources for creatives
And as part of that work they have launched a survey that looks to hear from anyone living, working or studying in the borough who works, or would like to work, in fields such as acting, crafts, performance, writing, directing, music, arts events, creative producing, films, animation, content creation, digital marketing, game design among others.
By completing the survey you will be in with a chance to win an iPad.
In early 2025 St Helens Borough Council Arts Service commissioned Artist-Led St Helens to conduct research into the affordability and demand for studio spaces in St Helens Borough, an equipment library for the creative sector; to develop a toolkit/resource for artists and to work with St Helens College arts students to curate their own events and exhibitions at Street and a Half in St Helens town centre, supported by Kindred and with funding from UKSPF and Arts Council England.
This past year there have been a number of creative projects funded from the Arts Council England Place Partnership Bid including trainee opportunities with Wonder Arts and The World of Glass, collaboration for the borough's artists with those in our European twins Stuttgart and Chalon-sur-Saone and the FLASH Workshop leaders development programme which starts next month.
The Arts in Libraries team at St Helens Library Service has also been supporting a wide range of events including the Artists Together Programme, open mic sessions and exhibitions ongoing at The World of Glass and Eccleston Library.
Councillor Sue Murphy, Cabinet Member for Localities, Culture and Heritage said: "It is brilliant to see so many new opportunities for creative people in St Helens Borough and I urge the many artists and creative people who work, live or study in our borough to complete the survey so that we can offer even more opportunities."
The survey is available here https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/YL4WAJ/ and the closing date is midnight on Monday 11th August.
