The proposals include the replacement of the existing fuel station, construction of a new salt barn, and  plans to improve welfare facilities at the site. Approval is also sought to award contracts to George Cox and Sons for the delivery of the new fuel station and salt barn.

Hardshaw Brook Depot is a vital operational hub for the borough, providing accommodation for services including Waste Management, Highways and Infrastructure, Parks and Open Spaces, Street Scene, Fleet Management, School Traded Services, Social Services Transport, Security, CCTV, and Stores.

The fuel station and salt barn are critical assets that support  vital day-to-day service delivery and play a key role in the Council's Emergency Response Plans. The proposed upgrades will enhance resilience, improve efficiency, and productivity across many  frontline services.

Councillor Tracy Dickinson, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Environmental Services, said:

"This programme of works would increase safety and accessibility for our staff as they go about their work serving communities across the borough, but also strengthen the resilience of our essential services. By investing in these improvements now, we can ensure that our teams have the facilities they need to deliver effectively both day-to-day, seasonally and during times of emergency."
