Statement of Community Involvement and how to get involved
Statement of Community Involvement
We adopted a revised Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) on 20 November 2013. The revisions were necessary due to changes introduced by the Town & Country Planning (Local Development) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2012.
The SCI (2013) sets out our policy for the involvement of the local community in:
- the preparation of the Local Development Framework; and
- the determination of planning applications.
An addendum to the SCI has been prepared to introduce temporary measures in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. This addendum is to be read alongside the SCI 2013 and will ensure that the Local Plan preparation process can continue in compliance with both the SCI and any Covid restrictions in place for as long as the pandemic affects daily life.

How to get involved
To facilitate community involvement in the preparation of the Local Plan, a consultation database has been compiled. This is used to invite individuals or organisations to participate in the development of St Helens' Local Plan.
If you wish to participate or would like to be informed of the Local Plan process, please provide us with your details by email at planningpolicy@sthelens.gov.uk.
The information provided will be held in the database and processed in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 and in line with our Information and Records Management Policy. For more information on what we do and, on your rights, please read our privacy notice and the council's generic data protection webpage.
For information on the latest consultations, see the Consultations and Latest News webpage.
