Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)

The Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) is a government-led scheme that sets out the rules for how payments to sub-contractors for construction work must be handled by contractors in the construction industry and certain other businesses. 

Our accountancy and financial management team maintains a register of all CIS sub-contractors that the council engages with and reports all payments that fall into the scheme to HM Revenues & Customs. If you are a sub-contractor undertaking work for St Helens Borough Council, please contact:
