School admission arrangements
Admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements if they want to make changes to their policies, or at least once every 7 years, even if there have been no changes during that period. Local Authorities must also consult on their co-ordinated admission scheme where the scheme is substantially different from the previous year, or at least once every 7 years.
St Helens Borough Council is the admission authority for community and voluntary controlled schools. For academies, voluntary aided and foundation schools, the academy trust, a governing body or diocesan board is the admission authority, and are responsible for setting their own admission arrangements and facilitating their own consultations.

Annual Report to the Schools Adjudicator
Local authorities must produce an annual report on admissions for all schools in their area for which they co-ordinate admission. This is submitted to the Office of the Schools Adjudicator (OSA) at the end of October every year and published locally (downloadable reports below).
The report covers:
- information about how admission arrangements serve the interests of looked after children and previously looked after children, children with disabilities and children with special educational needs, including any details where problems have arisen
- an assessment of the effectiveness of fair access protocols and co-ordination in the local area, including how many children were admitted to each school under the protocol
- information on admission appeals
- any other issues the local authority may wish to include
The schools adjudicator may also request additional information from the local authority as required by the Secretary of State.
