Christmas shopping in the St Helens Borough

We want to support our vibrant high streets, retailers, small businesses, and markets across the borough. Shop Local - Keep it in the Borough is a St Helens Borough Council campaign aimed at encouraging local people to discover the wonderful shops on their doorsteps.

Small and local businesses often stock items which are made locally and aren't available elsewhere else, providing a great range of choice and unique products that bring much-needed originality and variety into communities - including rare finds and items that aren't mass produced. Perfect Christmas presents!

We are spoiled for choice in St Helens Borough, all our high streets have their own unique identity, stocking products from all over the world. From Church Street to High Street to Warrington Road to Church Road there is something for everyone on our high streets.

If you are looking for popular high street stores, at the heart of St Helens' shopping offering is Church Square, St Helens' largest indoor shopping centre. Outside of town is Ravenhead Retail Park on the linkway, where you will find some of the larger retailers, conveniently situated in one place. St Helens Retail Park offers the same but it also houses a number of independent and discount stores.

Why not make a day of it and grab a bite to eat and drink? When it comes to eating out, our borough's towns and villages have many restaurants appealing to all tastes and budgets, from cafĂ© bars and coffee shops to international and traditional British cuisine.
Or if you are simply looking for a place to enjoy a few drinks, you'll find traditional pubs and modern bars across the borough, particularly in St Helens town centre, Newton-le-Willows, Rainhill and Rainford.

For family entertainment, St Helens town centre has a multiplex cinema10-pin bowling alleylaser tag arena and inflatable theme park. Or if you have time, why not find out what's showing at the historic Theatre Royal, with theatre, dance, music and film events on the agenda?
