Inlines

In addition to the formatting options showcased on the Default article, any article body text can make use of iCM inlines.

Inlines are a mechanism of embedding other content in article body text; by default there are 5 types of inline available (although custom inlines can be created).  The following sections provide a brief description and examples of each type, for more information please view our online documentation: Standard Inline Types.

Article link

Article link inlines are used to output links to other articles within this iCM.  The link to the Standard Content page example in the opening paragraph of this article is using the article link inline.   When output, an article link inline will always reflect the target article's current heading/URL values.  If the target article is secured the inline will still be output, but the user will be prompted to log in when they follow the link (if they aren't already logged in).

External link inlines are used to ouput arbitrary links managed in iCM: Links documentation

Document link

Document link inlines are used to output links to download media from iCM's Media library.  Like the article link inline, it will always reflect the latest changes to the media item and is aware of iCM security so will not output the link if the current user does not have permission to see it.
