Article date: 30 September 2024

The Sanderson Sisters, the main protagonists from the Hocus Pocus films, will be flying into the historic Earlestown Market - which dates back more than 700 years - on their broomsticks for a morning of fun on Friday 25 October, which will include balloon modelling by North-West-based, Twisted Creations.

Elsewhere, Jack and Oogie Boogie from Nightmare Before Christmas will visit St Mary's Market the following day, with free Halloween-themed facepainting available courtesy of local entertainment company, The Ultimate Party People.

Both events have been organised by St Helens Borough Council's markets team and have been funded by the Government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Councillor Kate Groucutt, St Helens Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Business, Culture and Leisure, said: "Both our town centres, St Helens and Earlestown, have a long and proud tradition as market towns and form an integral part to our exciting regeneration plans.

"Events like this put on by our markets team are a fantastic way of appealing to new audiences, attracting families down to our markets to see what treats and bargains are to be had, while supporting our loyal, hardworking traders. Both days are sure to be great fun for the little ones just a few days before Halloween - so don't miss out."

Halloween Fun at Earlestown Market will take place on Friday 25 October between 10:00am-1:00pm, with the St Mary's Market event happening on Saturday 26 October during the same hours.

Meanwhile, as part of October's hugely popular Pop Up Market in Church Square (Saturday 26 October), children will be able to take part in free pumpkin carving activities in the crafts area, courtest of Rainford's Christmas Trees, with mini wooden pumpkin decorations for the kids to decorate and take home, and facepaiting also on offer.

In addition, Church Square Shopping Centre are doing a trick or treat bag decorating workshop between 10am-4pm on Saturday 26 October.
