The Teenage Market is set to return to the historic Earlestown Market later this month for its spring celebration event.

Article date: 5 March 2025

Supported by St Helens Borough Council and fully funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, The Teenage Market offers young makers, designers, and entrepreneurs the unique opportunity to run a market stall for free, with each event also providing young performers the chance to take centre stage, whether individually or as part of a group, to celebrate the breadth of local talent in the local community.

Following the success of an inaugural event in December 2024 that raised more than £3,000 through the sale of 400 products, the spring edition, on the lead up to Easter, promises to be an even bigger celebration of young creativity, entrepreneurship and talent - showcasing a diverse range of gifts from creative young makers, with a focus on local, handmade products.

As well as a variety of stalls and stage acts, there will also be several spring-themed walkaround characters to entertain the crowd - courtesy of street theatre and outdoor arts specialists, Fool's Paradise - including Bumble Bees, the Spring Chickens and Blue Belles.

Encouraging young entrepreneurs to get involved, Lisa Harris, Executive Director of Place Services at St Helens Borough Council, said:

"Events like The Teenage Market are crucial to help young people build confidence, celebrate their talents and develop their entrepreneurial skills. We are proud to support this initiative and we look forward to seeing the creativity and business acumen of our young people on display once again.

"This market is particularly special as it takes place at Earlestown's historic market, which has been serving the community for more than 700 years, so a fascinating prospect of old meeting new and an incredible opportunity for young entrepreneurs to set up stalls at a venue that is right at the very heart of exciting regeneration plans for the area."

Joe Barratt, National Director of The Teenage Market, added: "We're delighted to be able to bring The Teenage Market back to Earlestown for this spring event, working in partnership with St Helens Borough Council to support young entrepreneurs and celebrate the talents of local young people. By giving young people this free platform at an early age, it encourages them to continue investing in their business and develop the confidence needed to reach their full potential.

"One day, we hope to see some of these young traders move from a market stall to a retail store, becoming a core part of the future high street offer in places like Earlestown and St Helens."

The Earlestown Teenage Market will take place in Market Street, Earlestown, on Saturday 22 March between 10:30am-3:00pm.
