The case followed multiple complaints from residents who reported that Mr Glover had taken payments for kitchen and bathroom work that he either failed to complete or, in some instances, did not even begin. A Trading Standards investigation was launched, leading to Mr Glover pleading guilty to charges of theft and failure to provide legally required contract information.

Mr Glover, who expressed remorse for his actions, has been sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid work, which must be completed within the next 12 months. In addition, he has been ordered to pay a total of £6,116 in compensation to his victims.

Lisa Harris, Executive Director for Place Services at St Helens Borough Council, said:

"We take consumer protection very seriously and will not hesitate to act against dishonest traders. Every resident deserves to feel confident when hiring a tradesperson, and we encourage anyone who has concerns about fraudulent or poor-quality work to report it. Our Trading Standards team is committed to upholding fairness and ensuring reliable services for our community."
