Transfer of a Vehicle Licence

If you wish to transfer the licence for a hackney carriage or private hire vehicle to another person(s), or company, you must notify us within 14 days of the vehicles ownership changing.

How to apply

To transfer an existing hackney carriage or private hire vehicle licence to a new proprietor you must complete the vehicle transfer application form (PDF, 177 KB) and submit it via email along with the following documentation:

• A valid certificate of motor insurance
• A copy of the vehicles logbook (V5C) (if this has been received from the DVLA)
• Proof of current road tax (either a receipt from the DVLA or Post Office) 
• Standard DBS certificate (no older than 1 calendar month) for each applicant that does not hold a valid hackney carriage/ private hire drivers licence with us. If the applicant is a company or a partnership, a standard DBS certificate (no older than 1 calendar month) must be provided for each partner or director.

Once we have validated your application, you will be contacted to pay the transfer fee.
