What we're doing?

Here's what's happening behind the scenes:

  • Trained venue staff looking out for your wellbeing
  • Pubwatch scheme promoting safe, responsible venue management
  • Ask for Angela - discreet help available if you feel unsafe
  • Strong relationships between venues and emergency services to respond quickly if needed
  • Our Nighttime Economy Forum, launched in 2023, bringing together pubs, restaurants, clubs, theatres, licensed taxi firms, and safety partners to make sure every night out is well-managed and community-focused.

Here's what you'll see:

  • Visible security and support including taxi marshalsassistance points, and Street Pastors
  • CCTV coverage and StreetLink - a radio system connecting venues for fast communication
  • Merseyside's Safer Streets Campaign - supported locally for added reassurance
  • Improved lighting and community presence.
  • Know Your Ride 'Gold Standard' licensed taxis.
  • A Public Spaces Protection Order in the Town Centre, so you shouldn't see any anti-social behaviour, and if you do, you can report it and it will be dealt with by Merseyside Police and partner agencies.

Town Centre Regeneration

We know that regeneration can bring questions — and that some people feel unsure about changes happening in the town centre. But this campaign aims to reassure residents that although the town centre is changing, the spirit of St Helens is as strong as ever.

Local venues are doing their part — investing in training, promoting safer spaces, and working closely with partners to ensure you feel welcome, supported and secure. When you come into town, you're not just going out — you're backing a community that's showing up for you.
