Report set to spotlight year of success for St Helens Borough Council
Councillors are set to hear how 2024/25 was a year of huge success for the council as they discuss the Borough Strategy Annual Report at Cabinet next week.

Article date: June 11 2025
Council Leader Councillor Anthony Burns will bring the report to Cabinet highlighting a long list of achievements across all six areas of the council's Borough Strategy.
He said: "Next week will be an opportunity for us as a council to reflect on what was a highly successful year with our Good Care Quality Commission rating for adult social care, our Corporate Peer Challenge from the Local Government Association which praised us as an organisation transformed over the past five years and our INetwork Award win for our tech-enabled care programme among other successes. These independent assessments of the work being carried out by the council is clear validation that the council is an effectively managed organisation that is digitally forward thinking and has achieved so much so far, building on our exciting plans for a brighter future
"This is on top of the huge steps forward we've taken in our plans to regenerate the borough with the opening of the new temporary bus station, start of demolition on the former Hardshaw Centre, works to reopen Earlestown Town Hall and the wider redevelopment of Earlestown advance and the opening of Parkside Link Road.
"This report is also a great opportunity to put a spotlight on the hard work that our officers are doing every day working with our communities with you, for you to deliver services that our residents really rely on such as the launch of our Family Hubs across the borough and our first dedicated community hub. We can also be proud of the close partnership working that is delivering on things like new homes for residents, new 3g sports pitches and so much more.
"We've so much to be proud about and say we #LoveStHelens and this Borough Strategy Annual Report and I'd really encourage all residents to read it to see the breadth of work happening across the borough that is making a difference to people's lives every day. It also sets in place a high bar that we are determined to continue to drive forward in the coming year as we see continued regeneration and greater community working across the borough."
