Recycling Roadshows
Our recycling team are going to be out and about over the next few weeks talking to residents about recycling and food waste and the importance of recycling it.
Recycling is really important to the environment; it helps to save energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and helps tackle climate change. It also helps to reduce the need for new products to be made from raw materials that we sometimes see on the shelves when we do our shopping. Its far better to recycle existing products than to damage land in the search for new raw materials. More and more people recycle everyday, which is helping to reduce the need for landfill. You can help do your bit by taking part in recycling.
Did you know .. when you recycle your food waste it gets turned into energy for our homes? By recycling your food waste it reduces the release of methane a potential greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change. Food waste that we collect, goes through a process called anaerobic digestion, this captures this methane and converts it into biogas, a renewable energy source, preventing its release into the atmosphere.
