Recycling & Waste Collection Update
Due to the snow and ice yesterday (Monday 5 January) we were unfortunately unable to complete all brown bin and recycling collections but we are working hard to empty those missed using additional vehicles and staff. Brown bin collections will be prioritised to ensure residents who have not had a collection since Christmas get one as soon as possible.
Any residents that missed a recycling collection on Saturday are due their next collection on Friday and those that missed a collection on Monday will be due theirs on Saturday. Any missed collections are being recorded in our in-cab system.
If you see a normal bin lorry collecting your recycling, this is due to the high levels of demand, but we can assure you that everything will still be recycled. A separate food waste vehicle will visit to collect food waste recycling.
We understand it's frustrating, especially after Christmas, but please be patient with us - we're working hard to continue to provide waste and recycling collection services but it's just taking a little longer due to the poor weather conditions.
Bear in mind that even in normal circumstances, bin and recycling lorries have to carefully navigate or reverse into and out of side streets - made even more difficult with ice. Our priority is to keep everyone safe.
Please continue to leave your bin and bags out if we can't reach you on your scheduled collection day. Bins and recycling containers should be presented in your usual collection spot from 6.30am. We may collect card recycling with a different vehicle at a different time.
Remember, if you have large amounts of cardboard, this can be taken to one of the household waste recycling centres.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
