What is a traffic Regulation Order?

A Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) is a legal instrument that enables local authorities to regulate the movement and parking of vehicles on the public highway.

TROs are used to introduce measures such as;

  • speed limits
  • parking restrictions
  • one‑way systems and other controls designed to manage traffic flow.

These orders play a key role in improving road safety, reducing congestion, and ensuring appropriate access for specific purposes.
