Kershaw Day Support Centre (dementia services)
The award-winning Kershaw Day Support Centre is a safe, stimulating environment that cares for and supports people with cognitive impairment, the majority of whom have a dementia-type illness.
The service we provide enables elderly people to remain in their own homes and communities, while also providing respite for their carers. Every effort is made to offer a person-centred service while meeting the needs of each individual.
The Kershaw service is for people living in the borough of St Helens and offers respect, dignity and choice, while maximising opportunities for people living with dementia, learning or physical disabilities.
The daycare service is designed to enable individuals who are experiencing low to moderate stages of dementia to be supported and wish to continue to pursue their interests, maintain their independence and retain or develop their social contacts while living at home.
We aim to promote a person-centred approach wherever possible, focusing on people`s hobbies and interests as well as other stimulating activities, including;
- Intergenerational Therapy
- Sonas ( A therapeutic activity delivered as a group or an individual for people with moderate to severe dementia
- Arts/Crafts - seasonal projects
- Home Safari
- Table top games and quizzes
- Music & Dance
- Flower arranging
- Food tasting from around the world
- Baking Sessions - Bake My Day Sale
- Sensory Garden
- Spiritual Care
- And many more things.

There is a daily charge for the service. This includes food and drinks.
Transport Needs - Service users and their carers are encouraged to use their own means of transport where possible. There is a provision of accessible transport available which can be provided if service users do not have their own vehicle. There is a cost for the transport service. Before your service starts, all transport options need to be discussed with your social worker or allocated day centre key worker (supervisor).
