Food hygiene training

St Helens Borough Council's Environmental Health section offers the following courses:

  • CIEH Foundation Certificate in Food Safety (previously CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering or Basic Food Hygiene Certificate)
  • St Helens Borough Council Food Safety Refresher Training
  • St Helens Borough Council Introduction to Food Safety

Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Foundation Certificate in Food Safety (six-hour course)

This course is aimed at anyone working in a catering, manufacturing or retail setting where food is prepared cooked and handled.

Typical environments may include: pubs, hotels, restaurants and cafes; supermarkets and retail environments; food and drink manufacturers; hospitals; care homes and schools.

St Helens Borough Council Foundation Food Safety Refresher Training

This course is aimed at food workers who already have the Level 2 Food Safety in Catering qualification but need to refresh their skills and knowledge in food safety.

Food operators who have the Level 2 Awards in Food Safety are recommended to take a refresher course every three years.

St Helens Borough Council Food Safety Awareness Training

This qualification is ideal for those working with pre-wrapped food and drink. It has been developed to raise awareness of key food safety issues and to provide employees with an induction to food hygiene, before undertaking the Level 2 Award in Food Safety.

FREE food allergen training and information on allergens is available from the Food Standards Agency on their website.
