Safeguarding Adults Board

St Helens is committed to Making Safeguarding Personal

"Making Safeguarding Personal (MSP) is about seeing people as experts in their own lives and working alongside them with the aim of enabling them to resolve their circumstances and support their recovery. MSP is also about collecting information about the extent to which this shift has a positive impact on people's lives. It is a shift from a process supported by conversations to a series of conversations supported by a process."

The St Helens Safeguarding Adults Board is a partnership of agencies with responsibility for protecting adults in St Helens from abuse, and promoting their welfare.

The Safeguarding Adults Board has an Independent Chair, Ian Cardwell, who can be contacted via the adult safeguarding team: email amyphillips@sthelens.gov.uk

New Modern Slavery Statutory Guidance

The Home office has published new guidance on how to recognise and report victims of Modern Slavery. Public authorities have a statutory duty to notify the Home Office when they come across potential victims of modern slavery. This duty is discharged by either referring a potential victim into the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) where they are a child or consenting adult, or by notifying the Home Office where an adult does not consent to enter the NRM. Both a referral and a notification can be made through the Modern Slavery Portal. The portal can be accessed at https://www.modernslavery.gov.uk/start
