Apply for street or market trading
What is this licence for?
Street Trading
We operate a street trading consent scheme for food businesses that operate within the borough of St Helens, which is a food business not operating from a building, usually a food or ice cream van on or near the public highway where the general public have access, this may include car parks.
You will need to register your business using this link Food Registration and complete the application form at the bottom of this page.
Once your food registration and completed application form has been received an Environmental Health Officer will contact you to discuss the street trading consent in more detail.
If you require advice about street trading consent before you apply please email Environmental Health for more information.
Street trading is not allowed in certain parts of St Helens; these are generally the town centre and areas alongside major roadways where trading could affect highway safety.
Food Vans for Events and Festivals
If you have a mobile food business that you are only using for events and festivals anywhere in the country you do not need a street trading consent, you will need to register your food business in the normal way Food Registration and once we receive your registration an Environmental Health Officer will contact you to arrange an inspection of your business.
