Majority of St Helens pupils allocated one of their parents' preferred primary schools for September 2022
Figures released from St Helens Borough Council's school admissions team today (Tuesday 19 April) show that more than 98 per cent of parents and carers have been successful in securing one of their preferred primary schools for their child this September.
Article date: 19 April 2022
A total of 93.78 per cent were given their first-choice preference, 4.23 per cent their second choice - while 0.96 per cent were allocated their third choice.
The data shows a positive picture for St Helens borough, with allocations for first, second and third choice preferences up almost 1.5 percent from the previous year.
Welcoming the figures, St Helens Borough Council's Assistant Director for Education and Learning, Jo Davies, said:
"Every year we work exceptionally hard with our primary schools to ensure that parents and carers are allocated one of their preferences - and I'm delighted to see that this is the case for September 2022.
"I would like to say a big thank you to our school admissions team for their extremely hard work over the past few weeks to get the allocation done by the statutory deadline.
"If any parent or guardian has questions about their application, I would ask them to contact the School Admissions Team by emailing schooladmissions@sthelens.gov.uk."
