One-way road closures around Lea Green to accommodate major projects
Motorists are advised that one-way road closures will be in place around Lea Green Railway Station next week for essential works as part of two major multimillion pound investment projects.
Article date: 5 August 2022
From 8-12 August, new ducting is being laid in the area for LCR Connect - a £30m joint venture, half-owned by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority which will see 31km of ultrafast full-fibre broadband installed to help the region become one of the most digitally connected areas in the country.
Then from 15-28 August, Cadent, which manages the local underground gas network, will be undertaking work to abandon a gas pipe that runs underneath the new car park site at Lea Green Railway Station and put a new pipe into the roads nearby. Gas will stay on throughout these works, so there will be no interruption to supply.
This is to accommodate the construction of a modern decked car park which will increase park and ride capacity to around 450 vehicles, a significant improvement forming part of the £15m St Helens Southern Gateway project to encourage use of public and active transport.
To allow these works to be carried out efficiently, one-way closures will be in place to prevent traffic from entering Elton Head Road from Marshalls Cross Road.
A signed diversion will be in place and businesses will be open as usual.
