Residents encouraged to be part of the St Helens Active Lives event

Residents across the borough are invited to get involved and find out about more about getting active when the St Helens Active Lives Strategy celebrates its launch in the town centre on Tuesday 30th August.

St Helens Active Lives Event

The event will have a packed programme of activities and will give residents the chance to discover the wide range of activities and classes happening throughout the borough, with the opportunity to try out a couple through special demonstrations.  For example, there will be opportunities for visitors to create their own delicious smoothies with the help of the smoothie bike!

Other activities on the day will include special prize giveaways, interactive stalls with lots of information about fitness activities at leisure centres and other locations across the borough.

The event will be held at St Helens Parish Church in the town centre and will run from 10am to 2pm on the day. It is open to all ages and all activities at the event are free to enjoy.

The St Helens Active Lives Strategy 2022-2027 aims to work with partners to increase levels of physical activity across the whole population of St Helens Borough, whilst maximising opportunities for people experiencing inequality to participate in activities.

Councillor Anthony Burns, St Helens Borough Council Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, Culture and Heritage said: "Getting out and about and more active is something many of us are keen to do, particularly now we have emerged from COVID-19 restrictions, and this event is a great opportunity for people to find out more about the different activities happening in the borough.

"We know the health and wellbeing benefits of being active is overwhelming; preventing a range of illnesses, improving our wellbeing, and helping people to manage certain health conditions better."

"Whether you enjoy running, walking, cycling, swimming, team sports or exercise classes, there will definitely be something happening for you in the borough so do take the opportunity to pop along and find out more on the day if you can."
