Accessible roundabout installed in Rainhill Park
Accessible playground equipment installation continues in parks in St Helens, as a roundabout designed for children with special education needs and disabilities is installed in Rainhill Park.
Rainhill Park now boasts an inclusive Wicksteed swirl roundabout, following installation at Taylor and Sherdley Parks earlier this year.
The equipment is being funded from Section 106 funds secured from local housing developments in the areas around the parks.
Councillor Andy Bowden, St Helens Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment, said:
"Our parks and playgrounds should be accessible to all. We have a wide programme of work to make our play areas more inclusive so that families across the borough can enjoy them no matter their ability. These projects also demonstrate how new housing, as well as providing much needed homes, can bring wider benefits to those communities."
