Housing and rent

  • Housing Benefit - claim housing benefit or check if you're entitled
  • Universal Credit - information on how to claim and if you're eligible
  • Discretionary Housing Payments - DHPs are additional amounts of money we can pay to either you or your landlord if your housing benefit or housing element of Universal Credit does not cover the full amount of rent you have to pay
  • Housing advice and homelessness - we can provide support to those who are homeless or at risk of losing their home, to those struggling to maintain their tenancies, if you are a care leaver, if you are leaving prison or a youth detention centre, if you're leaving hospital, or if you're a serving or former member of the Armed Forces. Whatever the cause its best to seek advice as soon as you can.
  • Housing Options - our trained officers will listen carefully and discuss appropriate solutions. Contact HousingAdviceOptions@sthelens.gov.uk for more information.
