Garswood House

There are a number of pleasant lounge areas all around the building. One of the lounges is fitted with a hearing loop, a discreet device to improve sound reception and aid those with hearing difficulties. There is a large dining room or residents can eat in their own rooms if they prefer. There are many visual clues around the home to aid residents with short term memory loss. All corridors are clearly named and sign-posted, with all room numbers displayed. If requested, bedrooms can also have photographs on the doors, which can act as an additional prompt to help residents identify their room. The front door is fitted with a key pad lock which enables those who wish to move freely in and out, whilst providing an added measure of safety for those persons requiring it. There are a number of pleasant gardens, all of which can be accessed by wheelchair. The home has two internal gardens which are popular with residents as they allow unrestricted access to a secure area. One of the gardens has raised flower beds for those who wish to indulge in some gardening.
