Sports Club Support
The Active Lives & Sports Development Team offer a wide range of support for sports clubs and groups. This may include developing mentors, support with volunteer recruitment, applying for funding, making your club sustainable through improving club structures, or supporting you to gain National Governing Body Clubmark accreditation. One of our main aims is to increase quality sport and physical activity opportunities within St Helens. If your club is looking for advice or support, contact sportsdevelopment@sthelens.gov.uk or phone 01744 675403.
Education and Training
Buddle is the new home of previously named 'Club Matters', a Sport England Lottery funded programme that provides free resources, support, guidance and workshops to grassroots sports clubs, groups and community organisations. These resources are designed to help your organisation set up, develop, grow, reach new communities and maximise engagement with members. Visit the website to access their support:
UK Coaching provides support, tools and courses to assist coaches to develop skills, inspire people and transform lives.
For sports specific coaching qualifications, contact your National Governing Body.
Funding
Sport England are an arms-length body of government responsible for growing and developing grassroots sport and getting more people active across England. They work to keep movement, sport and physical activity central to the lives of everyone, through a combination of National Lottery funding and grant-in-aid from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. Around two-thirds of their funding comes from lottery players.
National Lottery Awards for All provides funding between £300 and £10,000 to deliver new or existing activities which help bring people together, building strong relationships in and across communities, improve the places and spaces that matter to communities, or to support your organisation to change and adapt to new and future challenges.
Asda Foundation Grants provide funding for local groups, supporting a broad range of activities which contribute towards transforming communities and improving lives
Funding sources change frequently. If you have a specific project you need funding for, contact us and we can help to find the latest available options.
