Help is available for rough sleepers
If you see someone sleeping rough, especially in cold weather, you can help them by letting us know. Alerting us to rough sleepers can save lives.
During cold weather, the risk to people sleeping rough increases significantly. When temperatures drop below freezing, we activate our emergency cold weather provisions to help rough sleepers. This is called SWEP (Severe Weather Emergency Protocol).
The council and our partners work together to do all we can to help rough sleepers and people sleeping on the streets. But we need your help.
If you're concerned about someone sleeping on the street, you can make a difference by contacting StreetLink via their website thestreetlink.org.uk or via their app. Your alert can connect them to services.
Reporting someone through StreetLink helps connect them to emergency shelter and support. Your action can help save lives this winter.
You don't need to approach rough sleepers directly. Just let us know through StreetLink and we'll send help.
