Acceptance of Grant - Safer Streets 5
Acceptance of grant funding as awarded via the Home Office Safer Streets 5 programme
To outline the offer and propose the acceptance of £201,000 of grant funding from the Home Office to deliver a series of initiatives to assist in the delivery of the Safer Streets programme.
In November 2023, the announcement was made of the successful bids to the Home Office Safer Streets 5 Programme. This included a bid made by St Helens Council and its partners to secure £201,000 for the delivery of interventions in the local night time economy to prevent violence against women and girls (VAWG). The bid was supported via Delegated Executive Decision - 0047 2023/24. Permission is requested to accept the grant via a Grant Funding Agreement in order to commence delivery of the programme included in the bid documentation.
The provision of this funding from the Home Office Safer Streets programme aligns with the wider recommendations of a recent Place Services Scrutiny Review on Violence Against Women and Girls as well as supporting some of the projects initially discussed with the St Helens Night Time Economy Forum.
The acceptance of grant is captured within the Grant Funding Agreement that the local authority will be required to sign to access this funding. A detailed programme delivery plan was submitted with the bid for funding.
If the grant is accepted, a programme management approach will be adopted to maintain a focus on delivery of the actions within the proposal.
