Additional Waste Staff due to increase in housing and requirement for food waste collections
Due to the increase in number of properties via growth within the borough there has been a requirement add an additional residual waste collection round and due to new legal requirements to collect weekly food waste for recycling from all properties there is a requirement for an additional food waste recycling collection round to service flats and apartments. This will result in creation six additional posts.
Due to the increase in number of properties via growth within the borough there has been a requirement add an additional residual waste collection round and due to new legal requirements to collect weekly food waste for recycling from all properties there is a requirement for an additional food waste recycling collection round to service flats and apartments. This will result in additional revenue costs for six staff and operating costs of two additional vehicles from 2026/27 onwards that will be funded by external pEPR funding earmarked for support and enhancing waste services. This decision will agreed the creation of 6 additional posts Three Environmental Team Leader at SCP12-17. Three Environmental Team Assistant at SCP4.
Growth of Borough means additional demand on the recycling and waste service and a change in legal requirements to collect weekly food waste for recycling from all properties means additional demand. This requires additional staff and vehicles to provide statutory services.
