Introduction to the EYFS Profile Assessment Support -NEW! NEW! NEW!
Created in March 2026, this EYFS Profile Assessment Support page has been designed to help teachers and early years practitioners complete the statutory EYFS Profile assessment with confidence and clarity. The site brings together clear guidance, practical examples, short training videos and case studies to support consistent, high‑quality assessment of children at the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
The resources explain the purpose and requirements of the EYFS Profile, which summarises each child's development against the 17 Early Learning Goals and determines whether they are meeting the expected level or are still emerging. 1 They also offer focused support on key areas such as making best‑fit judgements, inclusive assessment, transition into Year 1, and the vital role of senior leaders in ensuring robust and meaningful assessment practice.
These materials aim to build practitioner confidence, address common misconceptions, and enhance professional dialogue across Reception and Year 1 teams. Through real examples and flexible guidance—not checklists—they highlight the importance of observing children in context and applying professional judgement.
Whether you are new to EYFS assessment or refining your practice, this support hub offers a concise, accessible toolkit to guide your approach.
