Before you book a collection

There are a number of ways to donate or recycle items without having to book a collection.

Donate your items to charity

  • Donate good quality furniture for reuse to TANGO (Together As Neighbours Giving Out) a Haydock based community group. You can contact them on 01744 607388
  • Willowbrook Hospice have donation warehouses in Sutton and Prescot. You can donate good quality furniture and household items for resale in their shops. This helps to raise vital funds for their hospice. You can book a collection online (opens new window)
  • The British Heart Foundation offer a collection service for good quality furniture that can be reused. You can book a collection online (opens new window)
  • The ReStore project works with the Hope Centre on an upcycling and furniture restoration project. They accept donations of furniture, bedding, towels, mirrors, lamps, kettles, toasters, clocks etc. They are based on Peckers Hill Road in Sutton. Alternatively, St Helens Borough Council offer a bulky waste service for your furniture that cannot be reused. Use the link below to book your bulky rubbish collection or contact our advisers on 01744 676789. Please ensure you review the terms and conditions in the 'Downloads' section below before booking a bulky rubbish collection.  

How much does it cost?

Bulky Waste
We offer two different types of collection:

Standard Collection - £24.00 for 3 items + max 1 additional item (£7.75 per additional items)

White Goods - £16.50 per item (max of 2 items per appointment)

 

 


What we collect?

Please see the 'Downloads' section below for list of items that are suitable for collection. 

Please note any items below that are either ripped, damaged or torn must be securely covered in disposable plastic sheeting or the damaged area fully taped to allow us to safely remove your bulky item. Recent legislation from the Environment Agency on the disposal of these types of items requires us to collect these items differently due to the risk of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs).       

  • Sofas and Settees
  • Sofa beds
  • Armchairs
  • Dining room chairs
  • Stools and foot stools
  • Home office chairs

If you are uncertain whether an item may contain POPs, please securely cover any damage to the item and present it for collection separately.

Where to leave items?

Important - Crews will not enter the household to remove items. 

Items need to be placed at ground level either in your front or back garden or on your driveway from 6:30am on your appointment date. Make sure:

  • Items do not exceed 6ft x 4ft
  • They are easily accessible and access is not impeded by parked cars/locked gates
  • They are kept dry and covered where possible
  • You only leave items out that you've arranged to be collected

If instructions are not followed, collections will not be made and no refund will be given.

Need to Cancel or Amend?

Please see confirmation email sent at the time of booking. Cancellations or amendments need to be made 2 working days before scheduled collection date. Any after this time will not be refunded.
