Formal parks and open spaces
The many parks and green spaces of St Helens are an essential part of its character and identity. They should increasingly play an important role in making the borough a great place to live, visit and invest.
Their variety and diversity is one of their greatest strengths and include traditional Victorian parks promoting civic pride, play areas and recreation grounds, natural areas, nature reserves and country parks.
The network of green spaces are there to improve the health and well-being of communities, creating more opportunities for play, active recreation, events and activities.
