Mesnes Park has been awarded the Green Flag Award for this year, something to be proud of.

It provides an urban park for the benefit of all members of the community from the young to elderly. It is the largest park in Newton-le-Willows.

The layout of the park is such that it now provides for a wide range of recreational activities, including the various equipped children's play areas, skatepark, ball courts, tennis courts, bowling greens and sports pitches, which form the areas for active play, and in contrast informal, natural areas of play space have been provided including grass space for informal games, woodland walks, meadow and wetland areas, seating with picnic units provide for a more relaxing and passive use of the park.
